I’ve been drawing lots of Pokemon fanart lately, mostly as a way to practice drawing poses, designs I have trouble with and to experiment with shading. I’m mostly happy with this one, although I wish I hadn’t sort of given up on the pose when I got to the arms, I feel like it could be stronger.

I have a character who collects toys in one of the stories I’m working on, so here are a few preliminary designs for some of them!

I’ve been listening to some of my favorite Pokemon Diamond and Pearl soundtracks again and ended up drawing my first starter Pokemon!
The Turtwig line will always be one of my favorites.

A unicorn! I’ve been enjoying pink and blue color schemes a lot lately.

violetlemons:

i was playing around with that color palette some more and wouldn’t you know it I drew the same dang picture I continue to draw constantly over and over (a character lineup drawing to try and get me used to drawing my characters at the correct heights)

for those who are unfamiliar with these guys, from left to right their names are Chives, Pike, Tu, Moe and Rin, and they are travelers

i’m thinking that maybe I WILL actually make the green on pike more teal but I’m not entirely sure yet hahaha

violetlemons:

I felt like coming up with some character designs based on color palettes!! and ended up overdesigning them

Their names are Cress and Viktor!

I’m really happy with these, Viktor’s arms are a bit too short but I tried to fix it when designing his back; also I couldn’t decide whether or not I liked the light pink going all the way around the eyes or just under the bottom but oh well I suppose

for some reason I’ve been really inspired by the lyrics ‘spilling out in constellations’ from a song by The Bravery. the imagery and character inspiration I got from the song and that line aren’t entirely related to the song otherwise, but this and similar images have been bouncing around in my head for at least a year now, so it was about time I drew it in some form
i’m really grateful for the inspiration that line gave me, actually, because until then alkaline had about zero flaws and he’s way more interesting now
is it very very bad to use the grain filter for anything in photoshop, i’m experimenting with stuff (there were other filters that looked really super cool, oddly enough since they usually make things look like crap, but i felt like those were cheating and so i didn’t play around with anything other than the grain filter)

a thing I made the other day!

#i should update this blog more  #my apologies

violetlemons:

do you ever just spend an hour or so working very hard on something before suddenly realizing that what you are doing makes absolutely no sense to you at all, and even less sense to anyone else

the only story behind this that I can think of is that I tried to draw the same thing except with markers a year or two ago and failed miserably

I don’t know what possessed me to do this back then either
